suspect it might

I have an authorised overdraft (unused) on my current account but it does show up on my credit report as a record. Now, if I went over the limit there would definitely be a red flag against that.

I also have another current account without an overdraft, but it still shows up as a record - even if no authorised overdraft. I suspect - but am not 100% - that if you then went into an unauthorised overdraft then it would also show as a red flag.

This is what Experian say:

Either way, I'd call HSBC to check as they might be able to advise and if you ask nicely may be able to make sure it doesn't get logged with the bureaus. There's usually a time lag as the banks will only report to the bureaus once a month. Once it's on there you can't get rid for six years so I'd get onto HSBC straight away to check and see if they will play nice.
