Just a thought.

I did it monday, my nephew did it after and nominated his mum.

We were at theirs for his birthday with most of the family and it was a bit of laugh.

Is it feeding some peoples ego's? Perhaps.
Be careful of assuming that everyone, or even the majority, are doing it for any self serving reason however.

Its just something a little silly that can be a bit of fun for most of those involved.
