Ipswich publicans have been sent a letter from Suffolk police suggesting they consider closing for two hours after tomorrow?s derby match, to prevent trouble.

The match between Norwich City and Ipswich Town at Portman Road kicks off at 12.15pm.

Nineteen people were arrested the last time the fixture was played in 2011 on a Thursday evening.

Suffolk police?s letter to pubs said: ?There are certain steps that the Constabulary can take if a venue is perceived to be adding to any issues relating to public disorder or noise nuisance. One of the more drastic steps is to issue a closure notice on the venue under Section 160 of the Licensing Act.

?A Section 160 closure notice will immediately trigger a review of the premises licence by the licensing authority. You may also wish to consider closing your venue for a period of two hours at the conclusion of the match.?

Suffolk police said the warning was ?proportionate?.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town player Christophe Berra has suggested in a tweet that there are still plenty of tickets available for the match.

He tweeted: ?One more day till the big derby! Would be unbelievable if it was a full house.?

As reported earlier in the week, nearly 24,000 home tickets have been sold for the match, and Norwich City?s allocation of 2,000 tickets is also sold out.

Norwich fans have been warned not to try and buy home tickets for the match, and have been told they could be escorted out of the ground if they sit in Town seats.
