He was an absolute stand out candidate at the time. His approval rating in the various online polls was variously in the upper 90%ers. I can't remember a more unanimously welcomed and applauded managerial appointment, at least not at our club. So it went wrong and mistakes were made after but there's no need to rewrite history to rejoice/wallow in a point that we're all painfully aware of.
