agree with that - he always seems to be playing as an individual rather than as part of

a unit.

I guess that is what Barcelona want though - a defender that is comfortable defending 1v1 rather than as part of a back 4, because the full backs won't usually be around to help out. Still, there are better exponents of that than Vermaelen, who always seems slow and needing to dive in.
