I will tell you what I know

An untrained operator would not be able to shoot down a military aircraft. Not even if they got lucky by pointing and shooting.

Military aircraft carry counter measures that would prevent such things happening.

Therefore the operators who shot down the military aircraft where certainly trained ( and it's not a 10 minute lesson). However the operators that shot down MH17 could well have been untrained.
