A friend's colleague was on board and could easily have been there herself

My partner's Dad was supposed to have a meeting this week with one of the researchers too.

It's impossible to comprehend the impact that a tragedy of this scale has on such a small and close-knit country. I heard a sociologist saying that given six degrees of separation, it's likely that most Dutch people either knew or knew someone who knew a victim.
