Loads of the songs were good, and one (you needn't ask) absolutely off-the-scale-magnificent - but overall, the general 'attitudes' of the Mondays and of the Fall (I'm thinking Fall of the Eat Yourself Fitter time, though their early 90s stuff was nice and textured) win overall.

I had a mate who was a big JoyDiv fan. he spent ages trying to convince me that they weren't godawful. He failed - IMVHO their popularity is as inexplicable as that of the Chilli Peppers. Unfathomable...... still, that's just my opinion.
