I have two competing narratives in my head about that

On the one hand, I entirely agree, and could point to the 8-10 points we've thrown away this season which could've had us on Southampton's shoulder very easily. A glance at how terrible everyone else is bears that out too.

But on the other, we have very, very little real technical ability in this squad; and our wage bill is one of the lowest in the division. On that basis, we're where we should be - and still only 1 point behind where I thought we'd be at this stage when I went through all our games pre-season too.

I had us ending up on 40 points. It's still possible we could make that figure too.
