( 22:05 about 50 yards from station). Came across a small gathering of Norwich supporters with a view hammers fans milling around ( about 10 people all in all). A young lad in Norwich top was kneeling on floor holding his head and his mate stood next to him clearly distressed. Asked what had happened.? The guy stood up said. ? I am his carer, we?ve just been to the game, a West Ham supporter came up behind us, took a swing at him and connected on the nose. How could they do this, he?s disabled and also partially sighted? By this time the other bloke was stood up, but clearly in distress. The carer then pointed to a guy stood by Ladbrokes window, who was watching all of us from a distance. Shouted to this bloke ( obviously identified him as the culprit). ? Hey fxxkr why do you go around hitting partially sighted people, come over here now and give it another go?. We started walking over to him. He laughed raised to figures and shouted ? fxxk off? then ran off.
By this time the ?victim? had sorted himself out, sore nose a bit of blood but generally ok so all walked to the station. What shocked me was this elderly West Ham fan who came up to us while all this was going on and said ?I?ve been coming to see the Hammers for years. A bit of advice, you?re your coats up, and head to the station as quick as you can. Midweek games in this area you are in immediate danger?. Well by this time we were almost at the station. But what he said ( with sincerity and genuine concern for us) did really make me sad and it is a shame that really things have not changed that much in some areas over the last two decades or so.
