Foon advice

My old iFoon 4 is giving up the ghost after three years so I want to invest in a new smartphone. I'm not really arsed about whether it's an iFoon, and it seems you can get much better value with non-Apple products, so I'm thinking of trying something different. Does anyone have any experience of these 'phablets' (e.g. Samsung Note 3)? On first viewing I thought they were a ridiculous idea, but I'm increasingly tempted as I seem to do a good job as a small tablet, have good handwriting recognition (my tablet has always been s**t at this), and can operate apps side by side. Any thoughts?

By the way, parsley soup, spag bol, panna cotta. I need a siesta.
