The truth is that we were very nervous for about 15 minutes. Then things changed after Russ made a great run down the right. The whole team realised that they could take the game to Man Up, and we absolutely dominated them for the rest of the half. Redmond gave Smalling a really torrid time, and put a couple of great balls across the goal, which frustratingly no-one got on the end of. There were also the usual dead ends and poor decisions from him, but boy is he exciting to watch. Snoddy was dreadful early on but improved. He's still the weak link though. The passing was immeasurably better than against Fulham, so unless you seriously believe that Hughton told the players to play badly against Fulham, you have to blame that fiasco on the players, rather than some pseudo-technical garbage about formation or tactics.
Some people seem to have bought Moyes's line about the Welbeck sub being the turning point. I suspect that's Moyes bigging himself up, because it was more that Rusty got tired that allowed them to threaten more.
All in all though, a performance that was a credit to the players, the manager and the Club.
