A few thoughts....

These days when purchasing online there is a check to see whether the card holders billing address is correct.

Possible that either:

1. The scammers were just testing whether the card details worked and never intended to get the goods.

2. The scammers intended to contact you pretending to be the company that supplied the goods. The scammers would say to you the goods needed to be returned (to them) and might even send someone to collect it. Make sure that you have returned the goods to the right people!!!

3. Your Mrs' credit card details have been hacked or cloned. Do a virus scan on your computer.

4. The company supplying the goods have simply made a mistake.
