Goodwill from last season

Last season we had a new manager, it wasn?t ?his team?. We had over ?10 million of our potential playing budget that was going back to our lenders. The defence was shored up and we tried to become tough to beat. It was the last stage of our change from indebtedness to debt free.

I accepted the way City were set up and I told myself I understood the reasons for this. It was frustrating to watch in the few games I watched and could get to last season.

Last season was a means to an end. It wasn?t very entertaining on occasions but we got through it.

I had the impression rightly or wrongly that this season will be different; some new attackers that we couldn?t afford last season and the opportunity to be more expansive whilst building on the solid organisation of last year.

Hughton had goodwill & time on his side with me for the whole last season for all the reasons above. It will be interesting to see how long the goodwill lasts after a few more performances such as yesterday.
