agree with that also

but like I said, he probably has built this up over so many years, he probably deep down doesn't want to change and would prefer to end it all, sadly he's doing it through this self-harming sort of way that most do, and what's worse it's in the public spotlight for all to see his demise sadly

wanting to change, and wanting to be put or put yourself through what would be required in order to achieve that change are two very different things, I imagine if someone asked if he wanted to turn the clock back a few decades he would jump at the chance, but to offer him what is required to make the most of what he has left, probably doesn't seem worth all the investment to him anymore tbh

I don't think that's selfish, just reasonable risk reward/cost benefit analysis

He probably thinks he'll never get back the life he used to have, so why bother trying to salvage anything, that's usually why people end up drinking themselves (etc) to death, I'm guessing....

it's basically a mental illness ain't it, like if we lost a limb, we couldn't ever get it back, yes we could have an artificial prosphetic attached and re-learn to do things differently etc, but mental health is quite a different beast sadly

our minds can help us deal with losing limbs, but our limbs can't really help our minds when they're damaged (it all starts in the mind.....)
