Get your business done early, everyone knows where they stand, you've got the players you wanted with probably minimal fuss compared to later in the window, you may have paid more by perhaps getting closer to teams' asking prices, but at the same time you've probably skirted round a couple of bidding wars, so you've basically lost nothing but got your plan in place early doors.
