I had something similar my wife's father died without a will and he had money in his bank account we new nothing off and the woman he was living with ( not married too) said it was money she gave him to look after ,unfortunately at times like that you don't think straight because of the grief it turns out it was insurence policy that had matured and it wasn't hers

We have nothing to do with the woman now and so on reflection the money was the price we paid to get her out of our life's and worth every penny
