Already, one female poster on here has made her feelings clear and I just don't know how a club squares such a notorious past with its community work, player visits etc. Abuse from the crowd is one thing... what about mums at soccer schools, hospital trips?
But then I wonder if this can be differentiated from the King case and others? King was a nasty sexual bully, an adult, consciously using his 'power' to abuse. Mboyo was a kid growing up in a very bad crowd, almost impossible to shake off, who it appears has found a way out.
Not sure personally I would feel quite as squeamish about signing Mboyo as I would about King then. But who am I to say? Perhaps I have an overly rosy view of the power/potential of atonement and redemption.
