...but it would be intersting to know what his actual role in the incident was. ie, if was he just an accessory to it, and not directly involved, then there may be more scope to go wth the '2nd chance' line.

However the lack of any mitigating details doesn't bode well... All I can find are reports pf him being part of it, there don't seem to be any English language news stories that portray him as only having a minor role or anything. And even if part of his 8 year sentence was suspended (perhaps siuggesting some mitigating factor), that's still a significant sentence so he's certainly no angel in this one.

Not a player I'd want to see at the club and it leaves a very bad taste in the mouth to even see our name linked with his.

Not good PR. Not good at all.
