I don't mind a bit of "I love this one" or "wonder whether they'll play that one" type of talk, but to me general chit-chat is utterly disrespectful to the performers and is an absolute pain in the arse to those who want to enjoy them.

Simple equation - if you're liking it, listen; if you're not, clear off to the bar or, if it's all in one room, clear off to the nearest boozer where chatting over a pint is absolutely the raison d'etre.

Sorry, but this is a mahoooosive bugbear for me these days - call it the end product of 21 years of gig-going...
