Spending ?1.2m per year on the wages of one player isn't as bad as it may seem. A Premier League club could have a squad of 25 players on an average of ?1.2m per year and it would total ?30m.

To put it into perspective, clubs get ?40m+ in TV revenue in the Premier League, and yet more money depending upon league positions.
