... based on the form of the previous dozen games being replicated in the final 12 games of this campaign.
You may recall my previous calculations from just two games ago... User Posted Link
It's interesting that quite a bit can change after just two games (apart from the consistent inconsistency of the bottom 5 teams). It doesn't take a genius to work out now that it will be 3 from the bottom 5, however with games rapidly running out, there's too much for all of them to do to drag anyone else into the equation.
IF we were to win OR draw today, then ALL bottom 5 teams would have to win AT LEAST half of their remaining games in any vain hope of dragging us down into the mix. This is of course assuming that we fail to gain any further points from our remaining 12 games. A defeat today, and the bottom 5 still need to win 5 of their last 12.
Sorry Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, QPR and Wolves, but it ain't going to happen. Why? Because they've still got each other to play, so won't be able to pick up the points they need.
Still to play...
Wigan: Blackburn and Wolves (last 2 games of the season)
Bolton: QPR, Blackburn and Wolves
Blackburn: Wolves, Bolton and Wigan
QPR: Bolton
Wolves: Blackburn, Bolton and Wigan (final day)
Still uneasy? Still determined that we need the 'magic' 40 points?
Based on total points gained from the past 12 games, the bottom looks like this...
Norwich 19
=== A CHASM THE SIZE OF THE GRAND CANYON HERE ===
Blackburn 11
Bolton 11
Wigan 11
Wolves 8
QPR 5
Even more of an indictment of their form is the number of wins each team has secured in the past 12 games.
Norwich 5
=== A CHASM THE SIZE OF THE CHEDDAR GORGE HERE ===
Blackburn 3
Bolton 3
Wigan 2
Wolves 1
QPR 1
In summation dear Wrothers from off of on of out of here, applying the form of the previous 12 games to the final dozen, then expect the final table to look summut like this...
Norwich 57 (assuming we win today or 54 if we lose)
=== THE DISTANCE BETWEEN JOHN O'GROATS TO LANDS END HERE ===
Blackburn 32
Bolton 31
Wigan 31
Wolves 30
QPR 26
So farewell to *QPR and Wolves then, and that leaves Wigan and Bolton to slug it out on the least negative ghoul difference to survive.
* Remember people the pundits told us we need players with proven Premier League experience in order to survive a season in the top flight.
Pundit my arse!
