Here's the text of the letter

For those that do not know, Peter Wolsey is (I think & happy to be corrected if this is not the case) one of the committee in the NCFC shareholders association.

Ticket price rises are not realistic
PETER WOLSEY,
Bawburgh Close,
Norwich.

At the recent annual meeting of Norwich City Football Club, I strongly urged the board, when considering next season?s ticket prices, to take full account of the worsening financial climate and subsequent reduction in many families? incomes. Both the chairman and chief executive made it clear they fully understood the problems facing supporters and one therefore expected sympathetic consideration on renewal prices.

So what happens? With inflation at about 5pc, ticket prices go up by 10pc. Those responsible should live in the real world. With the club?s finances in their best state for years and with a guaranteed sum from Sky of a minimum ?19m (?parachute? payment, if the club were relegated) next season and more likely a minimum ?40m, there was a clear opportunity to give supporters some benefit with a price freeze or modest per cent increase for a year.

Our return to the Premier League has substantial financial benefits for players, management and non-playing staff at Carrow Road. The only group not to benefit financially are the long-serving loyal supporters, who have backed the club to the hilt during the dark days; indeed we now have to pay even more.

How can that be fair? Given our improved situation why has Delia allowed, in her own words, ?the best supporters in the land,? to be facing such a large increase? What price loyalty? I estimate the increase in ticket prices will generate an additional sum very similar to the amount of Mr McNally?s well-earned bonus, on last year?s figures.

May I suggest Mr McNally and the Carrow Road staff freeze their salaries and bonuses at last year?s figures which will directly make further funds available for Paul Lambert?s team building, in addition to the increased income from season ticket sales. Many old ?South Stand? supporters had ticket concessions sanctioned by the board, of which Delia and Michael were members.

These concessions were removed last year without consultation or apology which results in many season tickets increasing from ?296 to ?532 in two years. That?s a bit different from when I watched my first game in January, 1947.
