Some advice..........

I agree with some of the suggestions below but my advice is if these people are dodgy and you behave like a dick by threatening to turn them in (or you do turn them in)...........They know your names and where you live.........These people may come looking to extract some revenge at a later date...... even if its just damaging your property........

People who have nothing dont have much to lose.

Morally they might be in the wrong for not being insured but...you did damage their vehicle...... and from your post you admit your wife hit their vehicle........

You are stooping to their level...... if you are OK with that then thats fine.
Two wrongs dont make a right.

If you do decide to pay, obviously you want something in writing saying the payment is final and is the end of the matter in case they decide to claim at a later date.

After you sent a text asking to exchange insurance, I dont expect for you to hear anything back.......

They might try one last time to ask for cash.
