Well, people here call mates fatso and baldy without

causing offence, but if you said it to someone you didn't know then it's a different matter.

Similarly, black people here and in the US call each other niggers, but that doesn't mean white people can say it.

Dunno, I can see that what's normal over there is not considered normal/acceptable here - but I'm pretty sure that he meant whatever he said in an aggressive way - they were arguing after all - therefore not sure he can get away with it.
