Weird thing, I actually agree with that. And I wouldn't stand by my stance

if they actually just let him see the season out. Because one of two things could have happened. We could have still gone down and McNally came here (those negotiations could have been going on for ages)

Or, he could have kept us up despite how everyone felt. You're only 3-4 results from climbing a table, and he might have got his point accross to the team, and they might have responded

That would have been much better than how it turned out under Gunn

If Roeder had been sacked and it was only months into the job, I'd have probably accepted it. But he kept us up, and earnt the right to a season in the championship

Which is why (unphathomable to others on here), that I don't dislike him. Lambert could have still been manager for us, in the championship, as we'd have settled with Roeder by not renewing his contract

The thing that got me the most, is we always played well against Barnsley, we get them home and away these days, and Gunn's first game was Barnsley

Roeder would have won that game. Those 3 points were handed to Gunn as a starter win, instead of a pick me up for Roeder's team

I didn't like that at the time, and it irritated me when we won 4-0 (because it was almost a false win, cos we were always going to win it). It implanted the euphoria that followed, that Roeder was definitely clueless, cos Gunn won his first game, how difficult can it be?

Then before we all knew it, it was 3.30pm final day of the season, and we were 3-0 down at home to the team bottom of the league

For everything Roeder did, no one ever spanked us
