If you are limited in what you can get, you'll be judged on what you get. If you don't buy anything because you don't have faith in what is out there, you'll get stick for not spending money (and your board will gladly deflect on you with that at any opportunity)

It's the reason why good managers don't take jobs on where they'll end up looking bad

We got Lambert because of McNally, and McNally was probably the best thing that's happened to us since 95
