That's what I said yesterday walking away from the game. Refs (as anyone normal would) defend their decisions and if I were him that's exactly what I would say.

Doesn't make him less incompetent or wrong though. Having slept on my anger, I'm of the opinion that we were unlucky that one man's poor performance affected our team's good one, but that the team knows how good we actually are. We carved them open several times in that first half. We also know how much Holt means to the team.

And what's more, it makes it fairly clear that if you want to avoid miscarriages of justice and judgement like that then a fourth official watching the game is essential for top level matches. It's not like football can't afford it. The cynic in me says that the top teams will still have an unhealthy influence, but...
