They're just laptops with smaller parts (hence the atom processor). They are the same as pc's but without cd drive

My battery lasts 3 hours (3 cell battery)
Has xp
160gb drive
1gb ram + Atom n270 processor

With your ?300

The extras you should get that beat mine are

6 cell battery (6-8 hours)
(I'd personally stick with xp, it's a good OS. Up to you to get the Windows 7 for netbooks OS)
Up to you about ram, but with ?300, I'd be after the
Intel atom N450 processor
