depends how it fits in with your computing habits,

I've had this conversation with many people when you get the typical, "It's just a big ipod touch, it's pointless" statement. It's so much more than a big ipod touch.It's not right for everyone but for me it's perfect.

I can take it out into the field when I'm out doing fieldwork (in a case obviously), directly input data onto it so that I don't have to spend time writing it in a book and then re typing it when I get home. When I'm in the lab I can use it for data input again or for reference of mineralogy with certain apps.

When I'm at home I can sit on my sofa and browse the web, watch films/tv shows, read magazines, play games, all in the comfort of my chair without having a laptop burning a hole in my legs( I don't have a tv). I can keep my main computer for main processing work.

Just a few examples of how it fits in for me. Some people scoff and say you don't need it. Maybe I don't but it works for me and that's all that matters.
