R.Martin cannot be our 1st choice rightback and Nelson the same at CB. Ward will get better with game time with a better partner. I'm not sure Askou is the answer Whitbread remains untested. I'd like to see Francomb start on Tuesday
Ruddy will get better without Laurel and Hardy defending in front of him, but his fumbles are a worry, saying that, Forster's error last season was the making of him and the 03/04 Greeno f**ked up against Forest and went on to have a brilliant season.
I think we as a team didn't give Watford the respect they deserved, and we paid a high price for that.
I think we are a good 3 or 4 players off a top 6 or even mid-table finish, play like we did yesterday teams will murder us. I have faith in Lambert to learn from this game and he's no fool, he'll see the lack of defensive qualities on display yesterday.
We haven't won for 8 years 1st game, we were on SKY against a recent home bogey team, the odds were firmly stacked against us.
Just like the 7-1, yesterday could be a very important game in our season, the way the players bounce back, the urgency in which Lambert does some last minute transfers; a tight 2-1 win where the ref gave us a dodgy last minute penalty could have been a worse result, if this defence trots up to a Forest or a Boro, we are well and truly f**ked.
I'd like to see another striker in, Harewood or someone proven at this level but I'm not concerned about our outfield options, there's enough quality in there that when they gel could be a decent unit but it's 2 defenders or bust really, 3 or 4 new players and we have a decent squad.
