I had this idea that you could give all footballers a little test when they finish playing

You know Key stage 1 sort of literacy with comprehension and underlining and little vocabulary count. If they manage to get through this they can then be considered for punditry. Someone on the Today programme was saying how every game seems to generate a phrase which is then repeated ad infinitum by commentators and panel. Perhaps if they were asked to define what it means before using we could get rid of all sorts of rubbish.
