Thanks a lot - just missed you last night.

We've got nearly three weeks out there, so hopefully can squeeze in quite a bit. Vague plan is Ho Chi Mihn City/Saigon; somewhere in the middle (Hue?) & somehwere in the north (Hanoi probably). We really want to go to Angkor Wat and Phomn Pehn but we'll have to see about local flights and, apparently, we'd need a multi-entry visa to get back into 'nam as we couldn't fly back from Phomn Pehn

The Mekong Delta is also on the itinerary - not sure if we can afford 3 days though. Or you mean follow the river right up country? That might be good. We've also heard that the trains are pretty good in Vietnam, so plan to take them up the coast.

No. 3 sounds good for a bit of R'n'R, will have to check that one out.
