they did try and shut up shop at 3-1 though and that didn't work. I didn't think that Rooney was the same after he felt a tweak in his ankle, they lost his energy and then panicked and didn't know what to do. Where if they have started with a different and less risky and reliant on Rooney plan it might have paid off.
