She wasn't "going out with him" at the time. They were no longer an item, they were free agents, they were free to see other people...

...I'm not going to punch my mate Rich because he ended up with an ex of mine, nor do I expect any of my ex's to fall off the face of the earth (mind you, maybe...?) because someone else ended up with me.

I know there are other issues here...but, really, come on Wayne!
