Do I think a decent manager could've averted our collapse in 1995/6? Nope. Do I think a decent manager would've done better than Deehan, and not man managed people so badly? Yep.

As for "no atmosphere" under MON: it certainly wasn't poisonous, just quiet. And on the train to Charlton in October 1995, I was in the same carriage as Chase, who chatted amicably with fans; and we celebrated raucously when we equalised. We thought we were going up. The difference between the atmosphere then and that as soon as MON left was huge.
