and I think I'm with Jayson on this - is that the only answer anyone ever comes up with is to throw more money than the club has at the playing squad. This was clearly the Doncaster way. Someone allowed Gunn to do it agin last summer (I remember being slaughtered on here for suggesting that we were signing too many players - but we did).
And Plan "B" - Mr Cullum - came along. His answer? Throw ?20 million at the playing squad. Why not throw ?20 million at the debt - clear it - and leave yourself with a debt-free club with gates of 25,000? I think such a club could easily be competitive and balance the books in the second division for the foreseeable future. Yet people whose personal fortunes suggest they must be much cleverer than me don't like that idea?
