Agree re.commentary. Very disappointing. Dubbed commentary is bland and takes away the atmosphere as the crowd and ambient match noise has been muffled. Why couldn't they have had it, fees per DVD sold to BBC/Barry Davies/copyright issues I suppose?
He has commented in that way people do when they already know whats going to happen-correctly predicting possibilities, I expected, when we scored, for it to go, "...now, David Corner on the ball-if John Deehan can just win it, advance up the line and play it into the box, there could be a chance of a Norwich goal via a deflection...yes, yes, that is the case, Asa Hartford...thought so"
I was pretty pissed off when I heard it, I think, at the very least, they could have said it wasn't the original BBC commentary.
Theres loads of mistakes on the commentary as well.
LOL, remember Davies and his enthusing Donowa! Mind you, watching it again, it does look a slightly more exciting game than I recall.
Who remembers Greg Downs mucking about on the BBC camera before kick off?
The Red Devils parachutist hitting the roof and falling off?
Gary Rowell after the game walking the pitch with Sunderland and Norwich scarves-another signing that got me all of a tizzy that ended in disappointment (and don't laugh, but Tony Cottee was another!)
Did anyone actually play in that car park game prior to kick off?
