Re Auschwitz

I've been as well (and also to Sachsenhausen outside Berlin). Why go? To pay respects to those mass-murdered in the name of an ideology and to remind yourself of what some humans are capable of.

Even if you think you know about the holocaust you don't really have an inkling until you've seen the exhibitions and the immense scale of the place and crimes committed. Even then you can only guess at the appalling treatment and living conditions of the prisoners.
