you did just say "how do you justify it"

People who watch it probably watch it because of a combination of the following:

a) they find the auditions funny seeing people sing badly
b) they soon get to "know" the people they watch every week and feel an affinity with them and want to see what happens to them
c) each week the people sing popular songs which I guess they like listening to
d) vote to keep/knock out is fairly entertaining as you get to see the person you dislike gutted/person you like pleased.
e) famous celebrities come on tv and sing "live" so they get to see their favourite pop stars.

I personally dislike 98% of the songs, 90% of the people and 99% of the pop stars so for that reason, i'm out - I quite like Cowell though and Cheryl Cole is very fit.
