in the end it's a judgement call isn't it? I'm not saying you never get rid of players - but in the case of Svensson, Edworthy and MacKay I felt that they were performing well enough for us to stay with them. Bottom line: what did Svensson do that he wasn't worth a two-year contract? Worthington I see as being in the same position as Fleming - his performance has declined to such a point that the greater risk lies in keeping him.
I would say keep Worthington if he had given any indication at all that he could sort this out - but he hasn't has he? What exactly is the transfer plan. To replace aging players with younger ones. That makes sense. But Charlton is older than Malky. Thorne is older than Matty.
ANd the new manager doesn't have to be an unknown. What about Foley? Or Livermore? And right now I'd like to see Dave Williams involved in some capacity with the first team.
