If, for example you've got steering wheel stereo controls, you'll likely need an adapter, if you're fitting a different manufacturer's stereo.

Also you won't need to prise off a facia on many stereos, you just need one of those two-pinned stereo tools to release the catches on the sides of the stereo, a few inches into the dash.
