We do occasionally get some FUCKING MASSIVE house spiders though.

I swatted one the other day (I don't normally kill spiders btw, but above a certain size, there's no f**king way I'm picking them up, so it's the Dyson or the rolled-up newspaper) that was easily 4 1/2 inches across. Body must have been 3/4 of an inch on its own. I thought it was a footstool moving across the carpet, until I focussed correctly.
