Depends where the error happens

If you try sending to a domain that cannot be resolved then your sending server might send you a delivery delayed/cancelled error.

If the domain can be resolved then its down to the receiving server how it responds. Some will send a mailbox doesn't exist/full error or some will ignore any problems.
