Good point

Most channels are still SD and regular DVDs obviously aren't HD. I went Sony instead of Samsung (also highly rated in reviews) because the SD quality was better to my eye. I don't play games on my TV so that wasn't important to me but I seem to recall that the Sony was rated as good as anything
