Ruby Robert Fitzsimmons was by some stretch the greatest English boxer that ever lived. Jack Johnson was reckoned by Mohammed Ali (I think) to have been the greatest Heavyweight of all time. He was certainly the most interesting and controversial boxer ever until Ali. If you aren't aware of them then that is your loss.
