Now, y'see I went to a number of clubs like that when I was a hip young thing.

It seemed to me that by going to a G/I/T (or similar) night I could hear some music I liked and have a little jive, reasonable chance of getting laid, and very little chance of getting into a fight.

Whereas with a traditional mainstream club there would be a microscopic chance of hearing any music I liked, admitedly no less chance of getting laid, but, and this is the crucial point, a much, much higher chance of getting into a fight. Normally because being somewhere dark with very loud music I detest has the effect of turning me into a angry stroppy little c**t. Well, that was then, I'm a lot calmer these days.
