Debit card payment help required please

On Sunday popped into B&Q to get some paint etc. I tried to pay on my debit card and the card got declined (despite having funds in the account) so I took the receipt off the till operator that shows no payment made, and paid on my other debit card from the same building society.

I have just checked my account and it states that the payment is going to be taken from both accounts used by showing it as eg: balance ?100 available ?30 and the difference agrees to what I spent for both accounts.

Does anyone know if both amounts will be taken or if one will just disappear?
