Did you install any hardware recently ? If so, try to remove it and then try booting. Also, remove anything you have plugged into the USB slots and try rebooting. If it works then put them back in one at a time to discover which one is causing the problem.

Last Known Good Configuration rarely works in my experience.

If it is completely shagged, the next question is - did you partition your hard disk ? In other words, does it only have C: or also an E: or F: , etc ?

I had a boot sector virus a while back which totally shagged my W2K system. I had a small partition on which I installed Windows again, then accessed the other drives with that to back them up, then formatted the who thing and re-installed from scratch.

Of course, you lose all the software which you might have installed illegally, unless you still have the installations. But then at least you have the data and all your scat and gonzo pictures
