why does everyone expect Gunny to fail?

I don't mean that in the sense of him being doomed to fail as he has no experience, more that there seems to be a general feeling amongst norwich fans that whoever is appointed will fail ergo Gunny shouldn't stick his head above the parapet. Or maybe I'm judging the mood wrong from this site.
